คำปรารภของขุนพลพิทักษ์ที่กล่าวกับลูกๆเสมอมา

จากครอบครัวเชื้อสายจีนฮกเกี้ยน หนึ่งในบุตรชายนายกังเผ็กเร่ห์และนางเหรก นามเดิมว่า “นายกังซิมโป้” ที่พากันเข้ามาตั้งรกรากที่เมืองพังงาเมื่อครั้งเริ่มต้น นายกังเผ็กเร่ห์และลูกๆต่างทุ่มเทความขยัน อุตสาหะในการประกอบการงานสุจริต จนลูกหลานได้สร้างครอบครัวเป็นปึกแผ่นบนแผ่นดินสยาม ภายใต้พระบรมโพธิสมภารขององค์กษัตริย์ไทย

นายกังซิมโป้ ได้เปิดร้านขายของชำที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในเมืองพังงา 

ชื่อว่า “ร้านฮงเชียง” ตัวอาคารมีลักษณะเป็นตึกแบบโคโลเนียล หรือชิโน-ยูโรเปียน ฝีมือของช่างจากปีนัง จัดว่างดงามและทันสมัยมากในเวลานั้นและเป็นตึกแรกๆในเมืองพังงา มีการนำเข้าสินค้าอุปโภคบริโภคจากจีน สิงคโปร์และมาเลเซีย ร้านฮงเชียงได้รับความนิยมทั้งจากคนไทยและคนจีนในพื้นที่อย่างมาก และด้วยความเป็นคนที่จิตใจดี ชอบช่วยเหลือชาวบ้านและชาวจีนอพยพมาเมืองไทย ทำให้นายกังซิมโป้เป็นที่รู้จักมักคุ้นของคนในพื้นที่เป็นอย่างดี ประกอบกับความเป็นคนซื่อสัตย์สุจริต จึงได้รับการแต่งตั้งให้เป็นกำนันคนแรกของตำบลตลาดใหญ่ อำเภอท้ายช้าง จังหวัดพังงา และได้รับพระราชทานราชทินนามเป็น “ขุนพลพิทักษ์” เมื่อวันที่

เมื่อครั้งเมืองพังงาขยายใหญ่ขึ้น มีการจัดเขตการปกครองใหม่ อำเภอตลาดใหญ่ได้ถูกเปลี่ยนเป็นอำเภอเมือง เกิดมีศูนย์ราชการ โรงเรียนและโรงพยาบาล ขุนพลพิทักษ์ ได้มองเห็นความยากลำบากของชาวบ้านที่เข้ามาทำกิจในเมืองหุบเขา หรือเมืองพังงาแห่งนี้และไม่สามารถกลับบ้านได้ทันเพียงชั่วคืน ท่านจึงให้สร้างตึก ๒ ชั้นทางด้านหลังร้านฮงเชียง เปิดเป็นโรงแรมขนาดเล็ก ๑๔ ห้อง ราคาย่อมเยา ตั้งชื่อให้ว่า “โรงแรมทวีสุข” อีกทั้งยังปรับพื้นที่หน้าบ้านเลขที่ ๘๑ ของครอบครัวให้เป็นโรงเรียนอนุบาลแห่งแรกของพังงา “โรงเรียนพัฒนานุบาล” เพื่อให้ลูกๆและเด็กๆในละแวกชุมชนย่านตลาดใหญ่ ได้รับการศึกษาเบื้องต้น

ในเวลาต่อมา เมื่อกิจการเหมืองแร่ดีบุกในประเทศไทยเริ่มซบเซาและทยอยปิดตัวลง ประกอบกับอายุที่มากขึ้น ท่านจึงตัดสินใจเลิกกิจการร้านฮงเชียง

... แต่ยังจะคงเก็บรักษา “โรงแรมทวีสุข” ไว้ ดังคำปรารภที่มีกับลูกๆเสมอ... 

Words from Koon Ponpitak to his children.

Immigrating from China and having settled down in Phang Nga, Kingdom of Thailand, Mr. Kang Zim Pho and his family were industrious and honest. He had opened “Hong Chiang Shop” -  Phang Nga’s biggest trading store selling all commodities produced locally and imports from Malaysia, Singapore, and China. This shop was built in colonial architecture so called Sino-Portuguese style employed builders from Penang, Malaysia. He was well known for being a kind and honest man who always ready to give a hand to those in need – be Thai or Chinese immigrants. Thus he was appointed the first Head of Taichang district. The King Rama VII had conferred his name as “Koon Ponpitak” on the 10^th November, 1933. Later on Taichang district grew bigger and became Muang district where all the government offices, hospitals, school, and vocational collage  are located.

Muang Phang Nga is a town in the valley making it difficult for people to commute to and from within one day in the old days. Seeing this difficulty, Koon Ponpitak started a budget hotel at the back of Hong Chiang Shop. The hotel was named “Thaweesuk” which means “multiple happiness” in Thai. There were 14 fan rooms on the 2 stories building with a rooftop. He also converted the house No. 81 next door to be the first kindergarten and primary school for children in the community and named it “Pattananuban”. 

When tin mining industry in Thailand came to an end as well as his aging, he stopped all other businesses except the hotel business and told the family not to sell this building.

Lobby area with natural lighting. In the old days, when it was the biggest grocery store in town the upper floor was used as storage. Thus the clearing in the middle of the house served as pulley or manual elevator for delivery goods up and down.

Grandmother's dresser also received some retouch except reinstalling the mirror. 

รอยยิ้มบ่งบอกความสุขของผู้คนที่แวะมาเยี่ยมเยียนบ้านเรา

ตามหลังฮวงจุ้ย บ้านชิโน-โปรตุกีส ต้องมีช่องแสงลงมาบ่อน้ำกลางบ้าน ตึกทวีสุขก็ถูกสร้างตามหลักการที่ว่า เพียงแต่บ่อน้ำที่ใช้นำมาจากบ้านข้างๆกัน ซึ่งเป็นบ้านที่ใช้อยู่อาศัยในสมัยก่อน นอกจากนั้นตึกทวีสุขยังมีดาดฟ้าที่ช่วยให้ลมไหลเวียนในอาคารได้ดี และเป็นที่หย่อนใจแสนวิเศษด้วยวิวภูเขาล้อมรอบ 

According to Feng Shui, the middle of Sino-Portuguese house must let the sun shines through to a well on the ground. This sunlight spot also leads you to the rooftop where you can enjoy mountainous view of Phang Nga.

 บริเวณโถง มีตู้จัดแสดงโบราณวัตถุ และของใช้เก่าแก่หลายชิ้น รวมถึงอุปกรณ์ประกอบฉากจริงจากหนังเรื่อง มหาลัยเหมืองแร่ 

In our spacious lobby, a corner is dedicated for Phang Nga old time legends. Among these are many actual prop from a well know Thai movie "the Tin Mine".

ซุ้มโค้งหน้าบ้านที่เรียกกันว่า "หง่อคาคี่" เป็นเอกลักษณ์ประการหนึ่งของบ้านแบบชิโนโปรตุกีส สมัยก่อน ตึกแถวแถบนี้มีทางเดินเชื่อมถึงกันหมด มีหง่อคาคี่เป็นแนวยาว แต่ปัจจุบันเหลืออยู่ 3 ห้องดังที่เห็น 

The arch at the front is an important character of Sino-Portuguese building. We are proud to preserve the remain three. 

เราได้รวบรวมเรื่องราวในประวัติศาสตร์ของเมืองพังงามาจัดแสดงบนผนังบริเวณโถงของบ้าน ซึ่งได้รับความสนใจจากแขกที่มาเยือนเสมอ
